ABOUT THE COMPANY
 Gregory Meeh, President
|
Gregory Meeh & Esquire Jauchem founded the Company in 1982, to provide professional effects products and services for New York area theatrical and operatic productions. Over time the business has expanded to include clients in film, trade shows, television, industrials, still photography, and special events, locally and nationwide.
In 1989 J & M moved into its current premises at 43 Bridge Street in Brooklyn, a neighborhood popularly known as D.U.M.B.O. (Down Underneath the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). The company is fully self-contained at this location, including administrative offices, a machine & carpentry shop, breakaway glass manufacturing, explosives magazine, storage, shipping and receiving, and a large open studio space that is available for demos or photo shoots. In 1994 Gregory Meeh became sole owner of the company, but kept the original name, Jauchem & Meeh, Inc.
Striving for diversity and innovation in special effects, Greg has guided the company to be more than just an equipment rental house. A significant investment has been made in research and development of our specialty breakaway glass, butane torches, and rain and mist systems. In addition, J & M has made a commitment to staff development, training our employees in weapons handling, machining, CAD, electronics, and more.
A word of thanks to our associates! Please go to Vendor Links to obtain contact information for many useful resources. City Theatrical, Inc. is the authorized distributor for our breakaway glass products, and we in turn distribute products from Le Maitre, Rosco, Snow Business, Big Apple Lights and many other vendors. These business relationships have been instrumental in expanding our customer base throughout the country. Also, J & M has enjoyed a long relationship with other local designers & technicians. Andrew Benepe of ABS Art Effects now works out of space in our building, he is best known for his creation of Pumba for The Lion King, and has recently received great reviews for his puppet costume Milky White for Into the Woods. Thomas Glisson of Wysong and Adam Strauss of Best Road have been instrumental in technical and finish work on our torches, and Dominic McGill, who is now a freelance props & effects designer, has provided top on-site technical services for many of our clients.
